GHX Honors “Best 50” North American Healthcare Providers for Supply Chain Excellence
Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) has released its annual list of “Best 50” supply chains, recognizing North America’s highest performing healthcare provider organizations.

The “Best 50” honorees stand out amongst North America’s premier hospitals for their ability to demonstrate improved operational performance while driving down costs through supply chain automation, GHX says.

The 2020 recipients will be recognized during Summit Live on May 26, 2021.
Mayo Clinic Hospital moves forward on $748M expansion project in north Phoenix
Four huge cranes grace the skyline over Mayo Clinic Hospital campus in north Phoenix, working on a $748 million expansion project that will double the campus size and create nearly 2,000 jobs.

Those jobs will add to the 8,545 current employee base, while construction also paves the way for Mayo Medical School to be moved to the Phoenix campus from Mayo's Scottsdale campus.

3M files lawsuit against Florida company over fake N95 masks
Manufacturer 3M has filed a lawsuit against a Florida company claiming trademark infringement and fraud for allegedly selling fake N95 masks to a Massachusetts hospital. 

The company claimed in the lawsuit filed in federal court late last month that MM Medical Supply illegally sold thousands of counterfeit N95 masks to South Shore Health System that were made to look like the ones produced by 3M, according to The Associated Press

Representatives of 3M said in the legal filing that the Florida company improperly led the Massachusetts hospital to believe that it was an authorized 3M distributor and that it sold masks at “exorbitantly inflated” prices.
Optum on track to exceed physician hiring goal
The company announced plans to add 10,000 physicians in 2021 earlier this year, and Wyatt Decker, CEO of OptumHealth, said Optum is on track to exceed that number. Optum now has 56,000 affiliated, contracted and employed physicians.

Sir Andrew Witty, CEO of UnitedHealth Group and Optum, said OptumCare, which has 20 million patients in its network, plans to continue moving those patients to a capitated model to better manage healthcare outcomes and costs.
