How CHS, HCA, Tenet and UHS fared in Q4
Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems ended the fourth quarter of last year with net income of $311 million on revenues of $3.1 billion, compared to a net loss of $373 million on revenues of $3.3 billion in the same period a year earlier. 

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare posted revenues of $14.3 billion in the fourth quarter of last year, up 5.7 percent from the same period a year earlier, when revenues totaled $13.5 billion.

NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital opened the Center for Community Health, a new, six-story, 400,000-square-foot ambulatory care center on Monday.

The Center for Community Health offers a wide range of ambulatory care services, including oncology, digestive, and endoscopy services, as well as an infusion center, ambulatory surgery, diagnostic imaging center, and more.
The Road to Reopening Won’t Be a Straight Line
The pandemic isn’t over, but people correctly sense the danger is declining. They want more of their regular lives back.

As more people get vaccinated, especially older Americans, the vulnerability of the population falls. The Biden administration reports more than 20% of adults have had at least one shot, including 56% of those over 65. 

Even as the pandemic retreats, we won’t eliminate all Covid infections, but we can make sure that major surges in hospitalizations and deaths don’t recur. One key indicator to track is whether stress on the healthcare system remains low.
Michigan healthcare CEO gets 15 years in prison for $150M fraud
The CEO of a chain of medical clinics in Michigan and Ohio was sentenced March 3 to 15 years in prison and ordered to pay $51 million in restitution for his role in a $150 million healthcare fraud scheme, according to the U.S. Justice Department

Mashiyat Rashid was sentenced after pleading guilty in 2018 to money laundering and conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and wire fraud. Twenty other defendants, including 12 physicians, have been convicted for their involvement in the scheme. 
Les Popiolek appointed CEO of Valify and Valify Solutions Group
Valify Solutions Group (Frisco, TX) announced that Les Popiolek has been appointed CEO of Valify and Valify Solutions Group.

Popiolek replaces Chris Heckler who announced his decision to pursue new opportunities after seven years leading the technology and analytics platform, and the GPO. 

Valify, an affiliated company of HCA Healthcare, is the only healthcare cost management company exclusively dedicated to managing purchased services expense.
