Vizient supply chain expert Cathy Denning to participate in Senate Finance Committee Hearing on counterfeit PPE 
Vizient, Inc. announced that Cathy Denning, a sourcing and supply chain expert, is testifying before the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance during the second part of its hearing, “Protecting the Reliability of the U.S. Medical Supply Chain During the COVID-19 Pandemic.” 

Denning, RN, MSN, group senior vice president of sourcing operations, analytics and center of excellence at Vizient was asked to offer the committee insights into the critical issue of counterfeit personal protective equipment (PPE).

Kodak’s stock triples as company announces pandemic plan to start making pharmaceutical ingredients
The Trump administration’s $765 million loan to the Eastman Kodak Co. for its launch of a business making pharmaceutical ingredients sent shares of the iconic camera company soaring. 

The Trump administration said the Kodak deal is the first of its kind and uses powers afforded by the Defense Production Act.

The administration previously used these powers to demand that Ford Motor Co. begin manufacturing respirators and masks and that General Motors Co. make ventilators.

Banner Health hit hard by COVID-19
As America’s health care providers continue responding to the first wave of COVID-19, Banner Health is being hit hard for the second time.

Exclusive of CARES Act funding, Banner forecasts operating losses of $500 million for fiscal year 2020 as compared to initial budget expectations, with expected revenue losses approaching $1 billion for the year. 

Banner Health has brought in more than 750 nurses and respiratory therapists to meet the needs of COVID-19 patients and plans to add 350 to 375 more by late July to meet surging demands. 
NorCal HealthConnect offers to acquire Petaluma Valley Hospital for $52.6M  
The operator of Petaluma Valley Hospital announced it has received a proposal from NorCal HealthConnect, LLC, a secular affiliate of Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH), to purchase Petaluma Valley Hospital for $52.6 million. 

Under the proposed deal, NorCal would continue to provide emergency and acute care services “well into the future.”

NorCal HealthConnect would commit to continue operating the hospital as an acute-care hospital with an emergency department for a minimum of 20 years.
Premier Inc. technology predicts number of COVID-19 cases in U.S. hospitals in near real time  
Premier Inc. announced enhancements to its crisis forecasting and planning technology. With the enhancements, the technology will now predict the COVID-19 census for any U.S. hospital on a given day.

Premier’s tool enables hospitals and health systems across the country to visualize their facilities’ COVID-19-positive census in near real time and identify upcoming hotspots, providing critical intelligence to plan for both surges and routine care.
