Hello National Account Executives:

Today, America is enduring its most difficult economic times in this short century, and for many of ANAE’s supplier members and health system supporters from across the US, the supply chain has broken or has been pushed to the breaking point.

And yet, our community of ANAE followers incudes countless entrepreneurs, business leaders and sales executives responding to the needs of our neighbors. Each day, the healthcare manufacturers, GPO’s and distributors in the ANAE membership are helping to source products to support our mission during this crisis.

Thank you for your continued efforts to #combatCOVID19 and for reading our latest edition of “National Accounts Weekly.”
Stay well,

Scott M. Pecore
President, ANAE

Amazon Business creates COVID-19 Supplies
Amazon Business created COVID-19 Supplies to help direct health and safety products, such as facial shields, PPE, digital thermometers, exam gloves, sanitizers and wipes, directly to healthcare organizations.

Inventory of these critical supplies is currently very limited. Why the U.S. Still Doesn't Have Enough Tests
To reopen the economy safely, experts estimate the U.S. will need to administer millions of tests every month. WSJ's Christopher Weaver and Rebecca Ballhaus explain why we are so far from the number of tests needed.
PDI Healthcare's infection prevention products among first to be tested directly against SARS-CoV-2
PDI Healthcare is testing several of its disinfectant products for efficacy against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, for submission to the EPA for approval.

Partnering with Microbac Laboratories, Inc. for testing, PDI hospital-grade products could become among the products with demonstrated effectiveness against the novel coronavirus.

Infection prevention experts have been looking to the EPA's Emerging Viral Pathogens Program for guidance on what products may work as disinfectants. The program is intended to bridge the gap when outbreaks occur, giving laboratories time to acquire the novel virus for product testing.
HCA profit down 45% amid COVID-19 volume depression
Providers across the country are facing draining revenues as they suspend lucrative elective procedures to free up beds, staff and equipment for COVID-19 patients.

HCA Healthcare reported profit of $581 million for the first quarter of 2020, down almost 45% year over year.

HCA Healthcare missed Wall Street expectations for both earnings and revenue, chalking up the results to significantly lower patient volume in the last two weeks of the quarter ending March 31. Revenue was $12.86 billion, up 2.7% year over year.

HCA, which has cared for 5,500 patients testing positive for COVID-19 so far, withdrew its 2020 guidance due to financial uncertainty from the pandemic. Its stock fell roughly 5% premarket on the results.
VA and DOD Now Default to Sharing Patient Data with Private-Sector Providers
On Saturday, the joint Federal Electronic Health Record Modernization, or FEHRM, program office stood up the DOD and VA Health Information Exchange, which will allow medical providers at both agencies to share patient data with private-sector health care organization, such as specialists and urgent care clinics.

Both DOD and VA had major EHR management system rollouts planned for this spring but had to delay those projects as health care workers focus on combating the spread of coronavirus. However, in a letter to Congress in early April, VA Secretary Robert Wilkie said work on the health exchange was on target.

The exchange includes 215 partners, with most providers able to send and receive patient data from the agencies. A few providers only share patient data in one direction, either sharing data with VA and DOD or accepting information from the agencies, but not both.
